Amazon just launched its South African marketplace, so News24 took a look at how its prices across a basket of goods compared to local competitors Takealot and Makro.
Amazon and Makro were streets ahead of Takealot if all discounts were ignored, but Takealot was the most cost-effective if current discounts were factored in.
News24 created a basket of 11 items that are sold on each platform in a host of different categories for comparison.
