The MK Party “misrepresented” election data, and its claim that millions of votes are unaccounted for is “patently false”, the Electoral Commission of South Africa responded in court papers.

While the National Assembly had its first sitting on 14 June sans the 58 MKP MPs, corruption-accused former president Jacob Zuma’s party launched an application to the Electoral Court to have the 2024 elections set aside, seeking a court order declaring the elections were not free and fair, and President Cyril Ramaphosa must proclaim new elections.

The party claimed millions of votes were “unaccounted” for.
