COACH of Orlando Pirates, Phuti Mohafe, doubts Orlando Pirates in the race for the title of the Betway Premiership.
Mohafe was speaking after his side lost 2-1 to Zimnyama at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane, on Wednesday night. Pirates’ goals were scored by Relebohile Mofokeng and Patrick Maswanganyi. At Rise and Shine it was put in the net by Bonginkosi Dlamini.
Pirates are at the top of the log with 44 points where they are tied with Mamelodi Sundowns who are one goal away from this Soweto team. Staying in contention for Pirates has increased the hope of their fans who believe that they will overthrow Sundowns who have won the league eight times in a row.
However, Mohafe criticized the way they are playing in Zimnyama, and said that they might win the league again.
“I don’t see Pirates becoming champions of the Premier League. I don’t see them winning the league if they play the way they played today,” Mohafe said.
“I’m not sure, maybe our strategy worked, maybe we planned them well. They struggled for us. But according to the way they played today, I don’t see them becoming champions.”
Mohafe is talking like this, Pirates lost by a lot of goals that would have made them sit comfortably at the top.
