APPRECIATION of the way she helped her family to reduce the burden and help them by finding good and inexpensive tourist places, encouraged Ms. Neliswa Nxumalo, to improve herself with the knowledge of doing business.

It is now history that Ms. Nxumalo (27) is the owner of Neliswa’s Tour Planner, her business based near her home in Ezinyoke, Jozini, in the north of KwaZulu-Natal, which helps people who love to travel plan their trips.

Narrating it, he said that he used to help his people since around 2019, when they were planning to visit or have fun in a certain place, they would ask him to arrange everything necessary for them and take care of the right places for them.

“They always complimented me every time we went away because I was planning something good and fun for them. Then in January of this year, I started worrying about what I know about this role, I also learned from those who have been ahead of me who have helped me a lot with strategies and methods to make it easier to start this business,” he said.

Continuing, he said that the first trip he organized for his clients was from February 13 to 15, which was for those traveling from Port Shepstone to St Lucia, and cost them R7 150. This, he said, encouraged him to continue the business.

“My business helps customers find places to stay, various sports that they can enjoy in the place they want to go to, and I also advise them on the beauty of visiting certain places,” said Ms. Nxumalo.

He said that one of the things that helps his business to continue well is that he has knowledge of education in this field as he holds a National Diploma in Travel and Tourism from Coastal TVET College and is currently continuing with an Advance Diploma in Technical and Vocational, at STADIO Higher Education.

“However, it is not always pleasant as there are challenges that hinder my work, such as it has happened that some of my clients who visited Richards Bay, felt bad because they could no longer go on a boat because of the strong wind that disrupted everything,” he said.

Regarding the future plans, he said that he wishes that his business will grow until it ends up fishing with customers from other countries and that once it is well established, he will hire people to help him run the business.
