An SAPS brigadier got called to the carpet on Monday to explain to the Eastern Cape High Court in Gqeberha why five murder accused are allegedly malnourished, after living on bread and soup for the past two weeks.
The accused, Nomcebesi Slangveld, Mkuseli Damaneti, Akhona Mneba, Luxolo Kruisjan and Nyasha Manyange, are on trial for the murder of Stella Londt Old Age Home residents Agnes Burns, 91, and Rosemary Langton, 87, during a robbery at the centre in October 2019.
The victims were found bound and gagged in their bedrooms, and several valuable items were stolen.
