Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande says that government has established a R3.8-billion fund within the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) to support students trapped in the “missing middle”.
While speaking at a media briefing on Sunday, he said the government was ready to implement what is the first phase of the student funding model to ensure that the “missing middle” student can access funding from government.
The “missing middle” refers to students whose annual combined family income is between R350 000 and R600 000.
