New mom Harding announced on Instagram that Skylar Scout Lulu Peters was born on her due date, 20 June 2024, at 23:05 and weighed 4.53 kgs.
Harding shared her birth story, which was “not the one we planned or expected, but it was the one she needed.”
The original plan was for a home birth, envisioned as a calm and empowering experience. However, unexpected complications arose during labour, including the presence of meconium and signs of foetal stress. This led to a decision to transfer to a hospital. Despite the initial desire for a natural birth, the situation necessitated a caesarean section due to the risks involved with a traditional delivery.
“This was a very tough decision… I didn’t want to feel like I was “copping out” or that I had failed to give birth naturally. But then, in that moment, I went inwards and realised this had nothing to do with me or what I wanted… I had to tune in and go with what my baby needed. It was never about me giving birth… it was about her being born,” wrote Harding.
“She was born healthy and safely to a beautiful playlist of songs that Ben had put together (we will share this with you all; it’s really perfect!), and we have been totally infatuated with her ever since!”
She continued: “I am writing this all down because I have learnt one of the biggest lessons of my life. To listen, to feel, to tune in, and ultimately to trust that inner voice, and not let my ego or desire to fulfil a plan get in the way…but to surrender to what the process needs to be. It’s safe to say…this control freak has been beautifully schooled by a newborn.
Harding thanked the ‘incredible’ team who helped safely bring their ‘Lucky Bean’ into the world.
“This is going out to all the women out there bringing babies into the world… huge respect. We had no idea how powerful and purposeful this would be. Okay, we are climbing back into our love bubble for a little while as we get to know this very clever creature. Thanks for listening to our story,” she ended the post.

In February, Harding announced that she and band member Peters were expecting a baby and shared details about their relationship.
“I know a lot of you will have questions… and since we are bringing a new little life into this world, I think we are finally ready to tell you about a beautiful, fiery love story,” she wrote.
She shared that they have been together for 15 years but have not been very open about their relationship.
In March, the couple had a gender reveal at a concert at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens.
“Magic, goosebumps, happiness!! One of the craziest gender reveals we could have ever imagined… 5 000 people, the most beautiful venue in nature and love pouring in from so many hearts. Thank you, Kirstenbosch, thank you, Cape Town,” Harding wrote on Instagram.
