As the amount of time since the disappearance of 6-year-old Joshlin Smith surpasses 100 days, police are waiting for the results of tests conducted on one of their most recent leads – an item of clothing found a few weeks ago.

Western Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie said: “Community members found a jersey during a random search of the surroundings. The lab results of the clothing that was found are not yet available. Should it become available, the results will form part of court documents.”

Behind bars in connection with her disappearance are her mother, Kelly Smith; her mother’s boyfriend Jacquen Appolis; and two others, Steveno van Rhyn and Lourentia Lombaard. They are charged with human trafficking and kidnapping.
