LADIES in different fields of music from foreign countries will have the opportunity to be nominated for the first time at the awards ceremony this year, which will celebrate the fifth anniversary of The Basadi in Music Awards.

This year’s event will be held on a date yet to be announced but during the women’s month of August.

The organizers of the event announced the news that they have opened the opportunity for those who want to be elected to participate.

Hloni Modise who is the founder said that the acceptance of entries will be closed on May 30 at 12 midnight.

“This year we have planned to honor every woman in a different way than what we used to do. As we are celebrating five years, we have planned to open the door to other ladies from other African countries to be part of the ceremony for the first time. Since we have started announcing the plans, this means that there is no looking back, we have started the time for this year’s awards ceremony,” explained Hloni.

He said going out to other countries is still a way to expand the event so that it is not limited to this country.

“We want to grow the event, it doesn’t look like it’s only for this country, it’s not open to others, for us this means growth. We even invite lovers of this event from all over the world to be a part of it by nominating people who want to see them compete in it. We want to be known in the world and in all the places we go and our contribution can be seen,” he said.

Xoliswa Nduneni-Ngema, who is the manager of the Joburg Theatre, Gauteng, where the event is held every year, said they are happy to be part of an event of this kind that is not only limited to this country but will be known throughout Africa.

He said that the nomination of contestants this year is a new way that the event will continue to celebrate the success of women in different fields.
