The FF Plus congratulated Geordin Hill-Lewis on his election as federal leader of the DA.
Dr. Corné Mulder, leader of the FF Plus, says the party remains committed to cooperation with other political parties that strive for solutions to make South Africa a better country. This cooperation is aimed at actively opposing the outdated and failed ideologically driven policies of the ANC, MKP and EFF and being receptive to coalitions that limit and do not promote these groups.
“The FF Plus hopes that the DA will be able to be counted under the leadership of Hill-Lewis below. It is important to note that the DA positioned itself during its 2026 congress as a party in the middle of the political spectrum in South Africa; a so-called center party.”
Mulder says this should not be confused with the DA’s actual position to the left of the center as a liberal party focused on individual rights. “The danger of a center-positioning is that such a party is still fish and flesh and tries to be everything to everyone, but then ends up as nothing to no one.”
It is also there in the middle of the road where you get run over, says Mulder.
“On the other hand, the FF Plus stands unequivocally as a conservative political party just to the right of the center based on Christian and conservative values, as well as family values that have stood the test of time all over the world and that account for the reality of South Africa’s diversity and variety as strong building blocks for a secure future for everyone in the country.
“We wish Hill-Lewis every success in his new role.”
