CAPE TOWN. – As Dean Elgar left the Newlands playing area for the last time as a Test batter after being dismissed twice on the same day on a manic first day of the second Test between South Africa and India, the last part of SA’s old-school Test batting group departed with him.
He was the last remnant of the franchise cricket-buttered players who had an understanding of adapting to particular demands.
