War in Iran

The USA and Israel launched an attack on Iran on Saturday 28 February – exactly a week ago – after weeks of negotiations. Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was among others killed in the attacks.
The US claims the attacks are being carried out to permanently halt Iran’s nuclear weapons capabilities. Iran responded by attacking Israel, various US targets in the area, and even neighboring states such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.

The DA says its new billboard on Stormvoël Road in the north of Pretoria shows just how ridiculously out of touch the ANC’s leaders are with the plight of South Africans. The ANC has asked the party to remove the sign, apparently arguing that it is humiliating to Panyaza Lesufi, Premier of Gauteng, and tarnishes his good name. However, the DA says nothing this party does can cause more damage to Lesufi’s good name than he does himself.
SA pays tribute to Mosiuoa ‘Terror’ Lekota: ‘Patriot, freedom fighter, servant of the people’

Mosiuoa “Terror” Lekota, leader and co-founder of Cope, died this week at the age of 77. Tributes poured in from all quarters for this man who will be remembered across party lines “as a patriot, a freedom fighter and a principled statesman”.
Soli Philander dies

Soli Philander, beloved TV presenter, actor, director, comedian and radio announcer died on Wednesday. He was 65.
“May his loved ones find comfort in knowing that his voice, his jokes and his stories will live on in the hearts of the many he entertained and inspired. Rest in peace, Soli. Your laughter will be with us forever.”

John Steenhuisen, minister of agriculture, confirmed this week that the state will bear the full cost of vaccinating the national herd against foot-and-mouth disease.
