A 31-year-old man from Libode in the Eastern Cape has been shot in the head by police after they were called by his family.
An Eastern Cape family that reported one of their relatives to police when they were unable to subdue him in his drunken state, is now calling for action to be taken against the police after the relative was shot dead.
The saga dates back to Christmas Eve when Sikhumbuzo Xalase went home drunk and started hurling insults at his family members, prompting them to call the police.
But, by the time the night was over, Xalase was dead and his pillow, a cellphone and a wallet were covered in blood on his bed.
