The Eastern Cape’s Umzimvubu Local Municipality acting speaker, Nkosomzi Nomnganga, who is accused of attempted murder, has been asked to step aside by his political party, the ANC.

It is alleged Nomnganga, who appeared in the Mount Frere Magistrate’s Court on Friday for cross-examination by the State, shot and wounded a man in Sophia, KwaBhaca (formerly Mount Frere), after a quarrel in 2018.

His formal trial only began in recent weeks.
