Wilderness Search and Rescue (WSAR) expressed their sincere thanks to Woolworths on Friday after an “incredibly kind gesture and support” after the team recently rescued Sable, a pointer, from an approximately 80m high cliff.
Sable went for a walk with his owner and ended up on a ledge when he was chasing a badger. He couldn’t come down again.
According to WSAR, what began as “a complex technical rescue operation involving multiple teams, meticulous rope systems and a long night on the mountainside” ended on a lighter and more hearty note thanks to the “thoughtful deployment of Woolies dry sausage”.

The gesture quickly resonated with the teams. “The dry sausage was obviously an instant favorite with our K9 and technical rescue teams after a long night in challenging conditions,” says WSAR.
Although the organization’s volunteers are used to “long hours, difficult terrain and the occasional sleepless night”, they say that such small gestures make a big difference.
“It’s gestures like this that remind us of the community behind the work. Small acts of kindness go a long way to lift spirits when the helmets come off and the ropes are packed away.”
Special recognition was also given to the team at Woolworths Emporium The Village Square for their “kindness and generosity”.
