DISCOVERED a laboratory where drugs are produced in Chatsworth, Durban, by various police agencies on Wednesday.

According to the police, these agencies include Hawks, Metro Police Drug Team as well as SAPS KZN Crime Intelligence.

The police have confirmed that they have arrested a 32-year-old male suspect on charges related to drug trafficking, which appears to have been involved in the area.

Warrant Officer Sibu Ncane who spoke to the paper that is his colleagueOf this countryi-The Mercury at the scene of the incident, he said the police have been suspecting that the area has a laboratory that produces drugs.

“The laboratory is at the back of the house and it has small machines that show that it is used to produce drugs,” said Ncane.

He went on to say that they also found other money counting machines as well as drug packaging material, he pointed out and that cocaine was among the drugs found by the police, he said they could not tell how much the drugs found were worth.

The police suspect that some drugs were transported with the toilet water.

It is believed that this is one of the places owned by people who are suspected of distributing drugs in areas such as Mhlanga, Pinetown and Chatsworth.

Meanwhile: The police arrested two suspects aged 38 and 55 in Lamontville, yesterday, on the charge of planting and trading marijuana.

According to KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Paul Magwaza, this came after the diners occupied the area opposite the school on Ngobese road in this area.

Magwaza said that the police unit, Lamontville Social Crime Prevention, which has its program to visit schools, on Wednesday noticed something suspicious in the area near the school.

“When they went to investigate, they found that those who were in the area were selling drugs to the students. When they continued to investigate, they found that there was a place where marijuana was grown,” said Magwaza.

He said that among the items found by the police at the scene of the incident, there were marijuana trees, air purifiers, extractor fans, containers for packing marijuana and a board with instructions.

He said the police then called forensic experts to come closer, to work on the crime scene.

He said the suspects will appear at the Durban Magistrate’s Court today.
