It is unlikely that the controversial General Intelligence Laws Amendment Bill (GILAB) will be passed before the end of this parliamentary term.

The National Council of Province’s ad hoc committee processing the bill advertised for further public comment on new proposed provisions of the bill.

If these are included in the bill, they would have to be referred back to the NA, which had already risen ahead of the elections.
