As the 46-year-old Brazilian Fabricio Bloisi takes the reins at Naspers and Prosus this week, he brings with him an entrepreneurial approach that balances optimism with “brutal facts”.

Bloisi originally hails from the northeast Brazilian state of Bahia. In 1998, with a fellow computer-science graduate, he started what would become an e-commerce unicorn in a garage in the city of Campinas.

With only two computers, Movile initially focused on SMS technology and ringtone commerce.
