Clicks has up until now been selling a range of generic medicines manufactured by Unicorn in its pharmacies.(News24)

SA’s largest pharmacy group by store numbers, Clicks, said on Monday it intends to sell its manufacturing subsidiary Unicorn Pharmaceuticals in order to remove any conflict of interest and pave the way for outstanding licenses.

In a statement the group said it was confident the sale would be concluded by the end of the month, but it did not disclose the name of the potential buyer.

Clicks CEO Bertina Engelbrecht welcomed “the resolution of this protracted legal process,” also acknowledging the Department of Health and its top officials for “their positive engagement in ensuring a sustainable solution for all stakeholders”.
