Parents are expected to flock to shops this weekend to do last-minute back-to-school shopping ahead of the start of the new academic year on 17 January, but the economic crisis has made buying uniforms an even bigger worry than usual.
Parents are looking to the Competition Commission for help.
The commission has been inundated with complaints from parents about schools forcing them to buy uniforms from its shop or from a specific supplier at huge cost.
