President Cyril Ramaphosa sent a signal to investors on Monday that the kind of GNU he wants is one that likes a market economy, says Carol Paton.

As negotiations around a government of national unity (GNU) continue, President Cyril Ramaphosa sent an important signal to the business and investment community on Monday.

Although the talks are still some way from finality and we don’t know yet how a GNU will be constituted, Ramaphosa had enough confidence to announce in his weekly letter to the nation that no matter how the GNU unfolds, “there is broad support for the continuation of economic reforms”.
