Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso DEFINES it to see Orlando Pirates fans supporting their opponents in the Betway Premiership matches.

Cardoso who is from Portugal spoke about this ‘habit’ which he described as only happening in South African football after the 3-1 victory over Marumo Gallants on Tuesday.

It is clear this season that the competition for the league title is between Sundowns and Pirates.

Cardoso told the media after the game that he has noticed many times the crowd of Pirates fans at their games and other teams.

“We are happy with the win and we know it will help us as we prepare for the Caf Champions League away game,” said Cardoso.

“Even today the Pirates fans came out to support our enemies. All this gives us reasons to keep fighting.

“Although it’s unusual and something that only happens in South African football, I like this practice. I think it’s good and makes local football different from other countries.

“There are a lot of good things that I didn’t know that South African football has taught me. So I like this action of the Pirates fans.”
