The president of the ANC, Cyril Ramaphosa, said the government was not using load shedding as a strategy to influence voter behaviour in the forthcoming elections.

Speaking to the media on Friday, after conducting a door-to-door election campaign in Botshabelo, outside Bloemfontein, Ramaphosa said: “It appears to me there were a number of people who were unhappy that we haven’t had load shedding.”

This was a jab seemingly aimed at some opposition party members who accused the government of using the energy crisis to garner votes.
