The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) on Friday provided an updated list of athletes that have been selected to represent Team South Africa at this month’s Paris Olympics.

The Paris Olympics will take place from 26 July to 11 August.

This was Sascoc’s third squad announcement and now includes the names are those competing in cycling, equestrian, golf, judo, skateboarding, rugby sevens (men) and rowing.

Team SA is looking to compete in 19 of the 32 Olympic sports on offer, while there is still a limited time to qualify between now and the start of the Games.

The names of 27 athletes were added to the list, including the Blitzboks, who booked their place in Paris after winning the World Rugby Repechage tournament in Monaco last month.

The Blitzboks named a preliminary squad of 16, which will be cut down to the final squad of 12 and two reserves that will travel to Paris.

With the inclusion of the 16 Sevens men players, the Olympic team size stands at 140, across 19 codes. This time round there are fewer team sports represented, with football and water polo not going to Paris, having been part of the previous Tokyo Olympics.
