Seven people died and many were injured after a horrific accident between a taxi and a bus on a busy Eastern Cape road, Monday morning.
The spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Mr. Unathi Binqose, said that the accident happened at around 6 a.m. when a taxi full of workers from KwaNobuhle was heading to the city, and it is suspected that it tried to turn directly in front of the Algoa bus, which had only the driver at the time.
“18 people were treated at the scene of the accident. Two were seriously injured, others received bruises and were taken to nearby health centers for treatment,” said Binqose.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances that led to the accident
