According to Arabnews report, police said that a well-known businessman named Aamir Awan was shot dead at his own farmhouse in Islamabad on Monday. Islamabad Police Chief Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said that during the investigation of this case, investigators conducted geo-fencing at several places, analyzed footage from more than 250 cameras and reviewed details of more than 130 phone calls.

AI does the work of 6-7 days in less time

Rizvi told reporters that whether it is digital surveillance or any other method, Artificial Intelligence makes the boring and tiring digital work which earlier used to take within 6-7 days very easy. This practical use of AI is being seen in Islamabad. He also said that Artificial Intelligence is generally used in Islamabad, but this is the first most complex and dangerous case in which we have used Artificial Intelligence. This case shows the growing role of technology in policing in Pakistan.

How does AI identify criminals?

In today’s times, it can take many days for a person to do any work. AI does that work in a few hours. AI helps in catching criminals with the help of data and patterns. Facial recognition is the biggest and useful weapon of AI. AI software is installed in CCTV cameras of crowded areas. It scans millions of faces and matches them with the database of ‘wanted’ criminals held by the police. If a match is found, the police gets an immediate alert. Additionally, AI can scan thousands of chats, photos, and location history to find evidence of abuse. AI can reveal a person’s age, region and even identity from the frequency of the voice.

What is the matter?

According to a police report filed by Awan’s wife Ayesha Awan, five armed men entered their farmhouse at around 2:45 am. CCTV footage showed masked suspects carrying weapons and wearing bulletproof jackets entering the premises. The report said that when Awan resisted the attackers, the criminals shot him in the stomach. Awan died of his injuries during treatment at the hospital. Within 24 hours of the incident, with the help of AI and digital surveillance, all the accused who committed the incident have been arrested.
