Former Police Minister Nathi Nhleko has lashed out at ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula after his admission that the party lied in defense of the Nkandla fire pool scandal.

The state-funded swimming pool built at former president Jacob Zuma’s private Nkandla homestead has returned to haunt the ANC after the party’s secretary-general, Fikile Mbalula, admitted that the ANC lied to Parliament about it being a “fire pool”. However, former police minister Nathi Nhleko is sticking to his story that the R4-million pool was a necessary security feature.
A court has dismissed currency manipulation charges against most of the banks in the Competition Commission’s long-running rand-rigging case. In a new ruling, the Competition Appeals Court found that the commission did not have jurisdiction to try to prosecute some of the international banks it had accused of fixing the rand-dollar exchange rate.
