South Africans can now spend time in Mozambique even more easily, with more than 120 holiday destinations in this neighboring country that have just joined the accommodation booking platform LekkeSlaap.
Holidaymakers can now search and book accommodation in Mozambique through the easy booking process on this platform.
Gerriline Fouché, chief marketing officer at LekkeSlaap, says the platform’s expansion to this popular holiday destination is about more than just markers on a world map.
“It’s about offering the same peace of mind that South Africans experience on home soil to their adventures on the other side of the border. By keeping booking commissions in the South African ecosystem, we’re not just sending travelers to Mozambique. We’re reinvesting in the region’s collective progress and making international travel feel local and accessible.”
LekkeSlaap’s destinations in Mozambique include self-catering houses, guesthouses and hotels, making this tropical getaway a feasible reality.
The added benefit is that by making reservations on this platform, travelers do not have to worry about converting currencies.
LekkeSlaap has been contributing billions to the local tourism economy since 2013 by keeping bookings local and consistently providing property owners and small businesses with a meaningful income.

By expanding first to Namibia in 2018 and now to Mozambique in 2026, the company is promoting “economic patriotism”, which ensures that tourism revenue stays in the local economies and thus supports a sustainable local tourism industry.
Chantelle Smith, founder of GoBundu and a holiday home specialist in southern Mozambique with 17 years of experience, has registered more than 60 properties in Ponta do Ouro, Ponta Malongane and Ponta Mamoli with LekkeSlaap.
“Mozambique still offers something that is becoming increasingly rare for South Africans – true seclusion without sacrificing comfort. It allows you to switch off at a slower pace in a way that few destinations still offer,” says Smith.
Travelers can immerse themselves in nature by enjoying world-class diving sessions in protected marine reserves, swimming with dolphins or viewing elephants in Maputo National Park.
These adventures are complemented by “coastal chic” cuisine, where visitors can feast on fresh shrimp and peri-peri chicken at relaxed restaurants with sand between their toes, or local markets for pão (freshly baked bread) that is cooked on the fire and also buy handmade crafts.

Smith emphasizes that Mozambique is becoming more and more accessible for Capetians who want to avoid their wet winters, with a direct flight from Cape Town International Airport to Maputo International Airport and a shuttle service of about 90 minutes.
Travelers can also fly from King Shaka International Airport in Durban, hire a vehicle to travel to the Kosibai border and from there use a shuttle service of 20 to 45 minutes to reach their final destination.
Jurgens Liebenberg, chief operating officer at LekkeSlaap, emphasizes that the platform’s main priorities remain unchanged, regardless of the destination.
“We offer the same simple booking experience, reliable payment options and friendly customer service until midnight every day of the year. Every guest can book with absolute certainty, no matter which side of the border you holiday on.”
