A multi-million rand tender for the repair of the P32 Helpmekaar road in Mnambithi has been accused of killing two businessmen in the same area on Saturday night.

It is a country found out that Mr. Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi (31) and Mr. Mndeni Nxumalo (43) were shot in a car in KwaMaqanda area. It is reported that there were three people in the car but the third barely survived.

The local councillor, Mr. Ntuthuko Mbhense, confirmed the killing of the two. Mbhense said that this is a very serious matter, he does not like to talk about it too much because he did not get authority from the families involved.

Regarding the issue of the tender, he said there was nothing he could comment on as he said goodbye and hung up the phone.

It is a country spoke to a source close to the two who revealed that the road tender was blamed for their murder. He stated that he was not sure of the price of the love but said that it was a lot of money.

He said that these are the ones who are part of the construction of this road which was built with a lot of money, he pointed out that there is another who was part of the construction of this road who was recently killed because of the same reason. He also said that he was shot dead.

”It’s bad brother, we are all still very shocked by the way these people were killed. But the truth is that it is being talked down about the tender for this road that is being repaired here in the area,” said the source.

Continuing, he said that this tender has been discussed so much that some people have been threatened because of it.

He said there are some who swear and assert that there will be bloodshed and there will be an explosion while others will die if the tender does not fall into their hands. Even so, he said that the most surprising thing is that the construction of this road is standing together.

He said that if he could give an example of how much work has been done, he would estimate it at only 5%. “You can see how little work has been done on this road,” he explained.

It also appears that the families of the dead are scared, they feel not safe at all after this incident happened. The two were said to be inseparable.

It turns out that their killing has left the community in shock, wondering what happened?

Mkhwanazi’s family, who declined to be named, confirmed his murder. He said they are still very scared, it is difficult for them to accept what happened to them because the deceased never told them that there were threats.

When asked about the alleged tender of millions, he said that he told them that he was part of the road work, but they found out after he was killed that the issue of the tender had reached what level.

Nxumalo’s son, Mr. Lunga Nxumalo, said that his father had not received any allegations, and said that they were shocked by his murder. Regarding the tender, he said they know about it because they were supposed to start working next week.

Both will be buried on Saturday in different places. Mkhwanazi will be buried at the Ndomba cemetery, after the funeral which will be held at the Mnambithi hall.Acaciavillethen Nxumalo’s will be in Steadville Area J, and he will be taken to Plazini Wasbank cemetery.

It is a country found out that the two were very close to another KwaZulu-Natal Minister, which is said to have made them happy when there were tenders of this kind.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Captain Ntathu Ndlovu, confirmed the killing. He said the Mnambithi police are investigating two cases of murder after two men were killed on Saturday night. Another case being investigated is attempted murder.

It is suspected that there were people who shot and killed two men, while the third one survived and was rushed to the hospital with serious gunshot wounds. They were walking in the Kuvukeni area, when they were shot. The reason for their shooting was not yet known,” he said.
