It was necessary to close the N2 highway heading south near the NPC Cement factory, Durban, following the robbery of a cash vehicle on Wednesday morning.
According to ALS Paramedics, two security guards were shot, one of them was seriously injured. The Netcare 911 helicopter rushed the guard to the hospital.
ALS Paramedics spokesman Garrith Jamieson said the N2 southbound was closed from the M7 to allow emergency crews to reach the scene. “I would advise motorists to avoid the whole area.” Police are at the scene.
