KHIHLE wept and apologized to his grandmother, a matric student who was sentenced to 20 years for murdering her mother because she was looking for inheritance money.

Amahle Ngcobo (18), who was the first defendant in this case, was sentenced to 20 years in prison along with the second defendant who they were dating at the time of the incident, Nhlakanipho Shange (19). When Amahle’s mother was called, it was revealed that the two were studying matric.

It is said that they were at the forefront when the deceased, Mrs. Buhle Chiliza (52) was killed in an incident that took place on November 21, 2024, in Folweni.

It has emerged that the deceased was employed full-time at the Manzimtoti court. They tried to apply for bail but the court rejected them.

In court it was revealed that Amahle abandoned her boyfriend and started dating another man who is one month older than her, Mr. Sithembiso Kunene.

In the statements read, Kunene is said to be the one who hatched the plot to kill the deceased in order to get the inheritance money. He is also Kunene who is said to have hired Shange and others to kill the deceased.

Kunene was arrested and then released due to the lack of evidence linking him to the crime. It is said that on the day of the incident, Amahle was the one who opened the door for them at night so that they could come in and hurt her mother. When they got inside, Amahle also joined them in stabbing her mother repeatedly and she was left with a lot of bad wounds on her chest.

After that, they are said to have cried at Sigonyela’s gates. Yesterday at the Chatsworth court, the sworn statements of Amahle and Nhlakanipho were read where they admitted that they killed the deceased.

It has emerged that there was an agreement between the State and the defendants’ lawyers to plead guilty to avoid a life sentence.

Magistrate Mrs Dlamini listened to the statements read by their lawyers about everything that happened on the day of the incident.

After that, the Magistrate asked each of them if it was true that the statements were made by them and they agreed.

He also asked them if they didn’t do it under some pressure or coercion, they said no, it was just something from the bottom of their hearts.

After that, the Magistrate said that there is nothing more to say, he agrees with the sentence agreed by the lawyers and the State side which is 20 years in prison for the crime of murder.

“Because there is an agreement that exists between these parties, there is nothing else we can do. But the truth is that this case is very serious and usually leads to life imprisonment,” he explained.

It described this case as having weight because there is a soul that went out of an innocent person, and he said that he was killed by his own child.

After the Magistrate confirmed their sentence, Amahle burst into tears. His family was present at the court and brought him food.

Before he went down to start his new life in shorts, he talked to his grandmother and was heard saying: “‘Grandma, I’m sorry, you hear me, grandma, I’m sorry,”.

He was saying this with his hands folded in a show of regret.

The grandmother answered and said: “It’s okay, grandson, shut up, don’t cry now, you can hear me.” They parted like that, and the grandson went down, and the grandmother, who was leaning on a stick, was left crying with him.

It is a country Amahle’s grandmother asked to speak to her and said she did not like to comment. However, he said that he forgives his grandson for the mistake he made.

It has emerged that the State is on the heels of another suspect who is the mastermind of the plot of this case that has sentenced two.
