A dispute over a girlfriend, concluded that a body was found in the Blackburn slums, near Cornubia, Verulam, on Saturday.

According to the security company, Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa), the dispute was between the deceased who was the woman’s ex-boyfriend, as well as her current boyfriend.

Rusa’s spokesperson, Mr. Prem Balram said the incident happened at around 5.35 pm, in the shack where the woman is employed.

“According to the information found at the scene, the deceased arrived at the residence of the woman he was in love with before, and knocked on the door violently. The woman opened the door, while her current boyfriend was inside. It is said that the deceased told the boyfriend that he did not come to her, and an argument started,” said Balram.

He said that it was reported that the deceased then wanted to eat the things he said he bought for the woman he was in love with. It turns out that the woman denied that there are still belongings of the deceased in the house.

“The new boyfriend told the Russians that he was lying on the bed when the deceased attacked the okapi, and tried to stab him. He said he feared for his life, so he pulled his legal gun from under the pillow and shot like this, in self-defense,” said Balram.

It is said that the man fell outside the woman’s shack, and it was confirmed that he was present at the scene.

Balram said that they found an okapi and one bullet shell from the crime scene.

He said they found out that this man is a well-known person in the area.

“It also came out that he raided the house of the person he was joking with a long time ago, leaving his pregnant girlfriend at home,” said Balram.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Captain Ntathu Ndlovu, said the Verulam police are investigating a murder case that happened in Blackburn where a 35-year-old man was shot and died on Saturday.

“Reports say that the deceased and the suspect had an argument before there was a shooting. One suspect was taken by the police, who kept him in custody and will be formally charged, while the investigation continues,” said Capt Ndlovu.
