A campaign conducted by the Gugulethu Crime Prevention Unit, in Cape Town, yielded good results in the discovery of an illegal alcohol production facility in Gugulethu, which led to the arrest of five suspects aged between 19 and 50.

The police seized liquor bottles, labels, packaging machines, small bottles and large bottles of chemicals believed to be used in the production of illegal alcohol.

The suspects are expected to appear at Athlone Magistrates’ Court on charges of illegal alcohol production.

In another #OperationLockdown3 operation in Valhalla Park, Bishop Lavis, police arrested two men, aged 45 and 55, after finding 92 mandrax tablets during a roadblock in the area. They are expected to appear at Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ Court when they are charged.
