THE CHAIRMAN of the Parliamentary committee considering the removal of president Cyril Ramaphosa from office over the discovery of US dollar coins at his Phala Phala farm, says they will only be stopped by the court from continuing their work.

Mr. Makashule Gana of Rise Mzansi, the chairman of the committee, said that they are continuing with the work of the committee as he wants the meeting to be held as soon as possible before Parliament closes. He said nothing will stop them from doing their job except for a court order.

“We will not be stopped by lawyers’ letters, but we will be stopped by the court if it says that we do not continue with the work of the committee. We are currently continuing with the work of the committee as we prepare for the first meeting of the committee. I plan for this meeting to be held before June 26,” he said.

He said he will follow the guidelines as he will respect all the members of the committee. He said this when the leadership of this group spoke to the media yesterday in Gauteng.

The leader of the group, Mr. Songezo Zibi, said that their leaders have experience and know how to work with other groups, which is why Gana was chosen to lead the committee.

“The most important committee since there was a will of the people in this country. There has never been a committee like this, which will consider the removal of the president from office. There has been a committee that looks at the removal of judges but not the removal of the president,” he said.

Zibi also commented on the noise that has been made that they were given a sum of R30 million, which they disclosed to the Electoral Commission.

He complained that some groups do not reveal the money they are given but nothing happens.

“The Commission says that they do nothing if there is a party that does not disclose donations even though there is a law that ordered them to do this. Only the DA and our party disclose donations. Other parties, MKP and EFF, disclose a small donation but nothing happens. This makes the parties indifferent to the plan to disclose the donations they receive,” he said.

He also revealed that they were voted for by people from different parties including the DA, ANC and other parties.
