MILFORD FC and Cape Town City secured a place in the PSL Promotion Play-Offs by getting the key points they needed in the 2025/26 Motsepe Foundation Championship season wrap-up games played yesterday, at different venues.

Milford drew 0-0 with Hungry Lions at Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium, Upington, while City beat Leicesterford City 4-2 at Dobsonville Sadium, Soweto.

Milford needed a point in their match against the Lions to secure their place in the Play-Offs. They finished the season in third place with 54 points which is the same number as City who finished in second place due to goal difference.

Casric Stars, who were also one of the teams that were in contention for a place in the Play-Offs, did not work for their 3-1 victory over Gomora United at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium, KwaMhlanga.

Kruger United, who drew 2-2 with The Bees, at KaNyamazane Stadium, Nelspruit, were officially presented with their trophy and medals for being the 2025/26 champions of the Motsepe Championship. Next season we will be running in the Betway Premiership

City and Milford are waiting for the Premiership team they will play with in the Play-Offs which will start on May 26, and wrap up on June 13.

This team is expected to be out of four teams after the Premiership season finale on Saturday, namely Magesi FC, Orbit College, Marumo Gallants and Chippa United.

Milford coached by Xanti Pupuma, is the first to secure a place in the Play-Offs.

Although it finally escaped the league title after staying at the top of the log for a long time, there is no question that it will humble it to get another chance in the Play-Offs. The team from Richards Bay went a long way in the Nedbank Cup competition, only to be knocked out by TS Galaxy in the semi-finals.

The success of the Stallions in entering the Premiership will mean an increase in the number of teams in the Bay in this major division since Richards Bay FC is the only team in this area that still holds this division.

On the other hand, The Citizens, coached by Jan Vreman and equipped with the majority of players with experience in the Play-Offs, is their chance to struggle to return to the Premiership as last season they were axed playing in the Play-Offs following their 15th place finish in the log.

Motsepe Foundation Championship results:

Casric Stars 3-1 Gomora United; Kruger United 2-2 The Bees; Leicesterford City 2-4 Cape Town City; Hungry Lions 0-0 Milford FC; Venda FC 1- 2 Highbury; Lerumo Lions 4-0 Black Leopards; University of Pretoria 6-2 Midlands Wanderers; Baroka FC 0-0 Upington City
