The Electoral Commission officials in the country wrapped up their trip to KwaZulu-Natal by meeting with the provincial Cabinet.

These officials continued to meet with different organizations in the country, including political parties, different sects, kings and other organizations. On Tuesday, officials led by the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Mosotho Moepya, met with the leader of the Shembe church, on the Buhleni side, Nyazilwezulu, in Mhlabuyalingana.

In this meeting, the officials were to present plans for the upcoming election, on November 4, 2026.

The Commission’s statement after the meeting, said that the priority was to strengthen cooperation as there will be local government elections.

“We want the public to participate in the voting process, especially in KZN. We are determined to resolve all complaints related to elections and voting. We are committed to holding peaceful and free elections,” said the Commission, which said its trip was a success.

The officials of the Commission are going back and forth to this province, because there is a report that revealed that the people of this province are not signing up to participate in the elections.

This study was commissioned by the Commission to hear public comments on voting in this country. As it happens, next month there will be an opportunity for people to register to vote. This will take place on the weekend of June 20 and 21. People are urged to register to vote because in this election they will only be able to vote where they are registered.

This is happening as the MKP party wants the election to be postponed because it is still complaining that it was robbed of the results of the 2024 national election. Officials of the commission met recently with the leader of this party Mr. Jacob Zuma regarding the complaints he has but he said that he is continuing with the case that will be filed next month regarding the complaint about these results.
