The persistence of Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Miguel Cardoso, in the belief that there are people behind the team from Chloorkop with the aim of ensuring that they do not add a second star to their jersey during the Caf Champions League, looks like it may cause some parts of the Downs fans to be upset.
This is the feeling that was noticed following Cardoso’s speech to the media following Sundowns’ 7-4 victory over Siwelele FC in the Betway Premiership match on Saturday, at Lucas Moripe Stadium, Pretoria.
Instead of being happy that his team ended up at the top of the log before the last match of the season against TS Galaxy, Cardoso focused on blaming some people for leaking the video of Sundowns’ league match against Kaizer Chiefs to AS FAR of Morocco.
Sundowns will finish the league games (tomorrow at 7.30 pm at Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit), and start preparations for the first leg of the Champions League final against AS FAR on Sunday at 4 pm, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Pretoria.
“It’s difficult to be Sundowns because there is always hatred that follows you when everything this team does is to promote South Africa,” said Cardoso.
“We are happy with the win, but the goals we have allowed to score have not dampened the joy (of the win). “There is still a game (on Tuesday) as we are playing one of the most important games for us this weekend.
“With all this, we feel like we are getting all the support we deserve. Our opponents in the Champions League (AS FAR) have a video full of our playing methods that someone sent them when we faced Kaizer (Chiefs).
“It’s okay, but we will continue, it’s difficult,” said Cardoso.
Cardoso is not the first to complain about the leaking of sensitive information by the enemies since February this year, until a member of the Sundowns bench (Mario Masha) was suspended from work because he was accused of passing on information containing Cardoso’s plans to Rulani Mokwena who was still training MC Alger from Algeria who was going to play against Sundowns.
It has been noted that after Cardoso’s speech, the fans continued to criticize him on social media, it is clear that they agree that the Portuguese coach acts like a person who already has a shield if things do not go well in the league and the Champions League.
Football fans were sharing the pitch when they talked about Cardoso on their X pages.
