The IFP leader, Mr. Velenkosini Hlabisa, said that he will not support the motion of no confidence in the leadership of President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Hlabisa described as opportunists the groups that submitted a motion of no confidence in Ramaphosa’s leadership.
He said this while talking to Newsroom Africa.
The MKP and ATM parties have submitted a motion of no confidence in Ramaphosa’s leadership.
These groups filed a motion of no confidence in Ramaphosa’s leadership after the Constitutional Court overturned Parliament’s decision to refuse to accept the report of the team that was tasked to investigate the theft of US dollars from Ramaphosa’s farm.
Hlabisa said that there is no need to listen to the motion of no confidence in Ramaphosa’s leadership, he said that the court’s instructions should be followed.
“After the court’s decision, we issued a statement. We believe that the law should be followed as Ramaphosa also said that he should respect the court’s decision. Parliament should do what the court’s decision says. It is not good to be opportunistic. There is no need for a motion to distrust Ramaphosa’s leadership. There is a court decision that says which plan should be followed. We as the IFP are not people who like to be seen. We agree that the court’s orders should be followed.”
The Speaker of Parliament, Mrs Thoko Didiza, has not yet responded to the request of MKP and ATM.
In addition to the request of MKP and ATM, there is also a request from the EFF who wants Parliament to immediately establish a committee to carry out the process of removing Ramaphosa from office.
The leader of the EFF, Mr. Julius Malema, said that Ramaphosa will lose a lot if he is removed from office with the plan they are proposing.
“If you are removed from this program, you lose the benefits received by the former presidents. Here we count the pension, cars and employees that you are given when you retire.”
Malema said they will fight against Ramaphosa’s attempts to delay the process for his removal from office.
It appears that Ramaphosa may go to court to challenge the report of the committee commissioned by Parliament to investigate the matter.
“Even if he can go to court, we will go to court with us. We will say that this matter is urgent, it should be heard quickly. If he thinks that he will delay us, he is wrong. We will file a request for the matter to be heard quickly. He will be called to answer himself.”
In order for Ramaphosa to be removed from office with this plan, the proposal must be voted for by 66% of the members of Parliament.
Malema said that they do not care if the proposal for Ramaphosa’s removal from office is ultimately rejected because they will have insulted him and eliminated him when he appeared before the committee that will be conducting the process for his removal from office.
“We don’t care if he is removed from office. The issue of voting is at the end. It will come when Ramaphosa will be insulted and finished. A lot will come out. We will call him to answer and call the farm workers. A lot will come out. The workers will tell us the truth. I know it was not the first time they stole money here. Many names of people will come forward. He will reveal his buttocks.”
