The new leader of DA KwaZulu-Natal, Mr. Sithembiso Ngema, addressed it to the former president, Mr. Jacob Zuma, and his MKP party.

Ngema said he wants them to intensify their campaign for the local government elections in Zuma’s hometown, Nkandla.

He said this while delivering a speech at the DA KwaZulu-Natal leadership selection conference, which was held at the weekend.

Ngema, who is a councilor in Thekwini Municipality, defeated the Member of Parliament, Mr. Mzamo Billy, in the race to lead the DA in KwaZulu-Natal.

Ngema said that water has already entered Zuma’s house as they have a leader representing him at the higher education institution in Nkandla.

“We will make sure that we grow in Nkandla. I have been talking to the chairman of the DA in Nkandla, I told him that we should have people who will run for councilor elections there.”

Ngema said that they are not at all afraid of the MKP that came to be heard in the 2024 national elections.

“We know that there is a new team that wears white shirts, we’re on it.”

Ngema said there is no place they will not campaign here in KwaZulu-Natal.

“We will campaign in all areas of KwaZulu-Natal, we will campaign in all municipalities. For those who went saying that we are a discriminatory organization, they will continue to say so but we will continue to deliver the needs to the people. Others said that the DA will never govern here in KwaZulu-Natal. Look today we have trustees in the government of KwaZulu-Natal and we are in charge of Mngeni Municipality.”

Ngema said he wants the group to grow in all areas.

He said they will continue to talk to chiefs and chiefs to ensure that the party grows in rural areas.

Ngema spoke about the difficulties in the coalition government in KwaZulu-Natal that they are a part of but said that they will continue to hold it against the government in which they are partners with the IFP, ANC and NFP.

“We know there are problems in the provincial government. Those who represent us in the Legislative Assembly continue to seek answers from the leaders of the ANC. Just because we are in partnership with the ANC does not mean we have to give up what we believe in.”

The other leaders who were elected to the positions are the Minister of Public Works, Mr. Dean Macpherson, who was appointed as the Chairman, while the Minister of Public Works, Mr. Martin Meyer, was appointed as the Deputy Leader.

The candidates for the position of Deputy Chairman are the Deputy Mayor of Mngeni Municipality, Mr. Sandile Mnikathi, Member of the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Sakhile Mngadi, and the coordinator of the DA and the Zulu House, Mr. Swelakhe Shelembe.
