There has been a complaint about the lack of leadership in the government of this country with the rioting of people marching and complaining about the disgrace of the increase in people from other countries, who are in the country illegally.
This came to light when there was a debate in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature, about people in the country illegally. Members of the Legislative Assembly, who were taking turns, expressed that this issue is urgent as people are tired of the government’s hand-wringing, which they accused of not doing anything about the issue.
Despite the government stating that it is doing something with people who are in the country illegally as there are a lot of people who are sent back to their countries, but the leaders of these marches are considered as heroes who stand up for their country. Cultural activists such as Ngizwe Mchunu, and Phakelumthakathi led marches that started in the province, went to Gompo City, Pretoria and Johannesburg, to express their displeasure with people in the country illegally.
Ms. Nompumelelo Gasa of the MKP party, said that the people of this country will be accused of having hatred against people who are in this country illegally because they stand up and fix their country.
He said this is not the case, they are not ruled by hatred but they are correcting the situation they see is getting out of hand.
“They are the heroes of the people who have overthrown, they are leading the marches to cry about the disgrace of the increase of people in this country illegally. They have shown love and concern for their country by standing up for the problem they see growing,” he said.
He complained that the people of this country are waiting for long hours in clinics and hospitals because of the influx of people who are in the country illegally.
Mr. Mongezi Twala of the EFF, who is the one who suggested that this scandal should be dealt with, blamed the lack of honest leadership in the country for this scandal that has hit the country.
“That’s why people rebelled and led themselves because they saw that there is no leadership in this country. We have a border problem in this country, people can join and leave anyway,” said Twala.
The Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Mr. Mntomuhle Khawula of the IFP party, said that the government has a campaign to fight against people in the country illegally as there is a campaign to clean up this problem.
He said there is a campaign led by the Prime Minister, Mr. Thami Ntuli, which says “those who do not enter the gate will break down”, which is fighting the problem of people in the country illegally.
“There are clear laws in the country that affect the employment of people from other countries. Some businessmen break the laws of the country by hiring people who are in the country illegally to pay them a small amount of money.”
Ms Sizophila Mkhizwe of the ANC, criticized the burning of shops and the violence and said that they are in line with Silo’s call, that the marches must be peaceful.
“Public problems must not be ruled by opportunists. The government has plans to send back people who are in the country illegally. Businesses are also visited to check that people employed there from other countries are in the country legally,” he said.
Mr. Mzamo Billy of the DA, said that this problem has not been solved now, he said that it has been there for years.
“The problem is from afar under the ANC, the boundaries are not properly monitored. Corruption is getting worse as well as other things including budget cuts. The public should not be allowed to take the law into their own hands.”
The Minister of Community Development, Ms. Mbali Shinga of the NFP, said that the problem of people in the country illegally must be resolved and the law should be followed.
“We want people in this country to follow the laws of the country.”
