President Cyril Ramaphosa is NOT interested in the allegations against the Minister of Social Development in the country, Ms. Sisisi Tolashe.

Ms Tolashe is accused of misleading Parliament on the issue of the donation of two cars donated by the women’s wing of the ANC, of which she is the president. It is said that these cars that were donated to this unit, he gave them to his children. It is said that he did not reveal their story when asked in Parliament.

Yesterday at the Parliamentary meeting, he said he did not bring up their story because they were donated to the ANC Womens League.

“There are allegations that I misled Parliament, which is not true.”

Ramaphosa’s spokesperson, Mr Vincent Magwenya, speaking to the media yesterday in Cape Town, said the president had received the report about Ms Tolashe.

“The president is a person who does not rush, who takes his time when he does something. He has received a report on the issue concerning cars, I will not be surprised if Ms. Tolashe meets him soon,” he said.

Saftu, a union federation, expressed concern about the allegations against Ms. Tolashe.

It asked why Ramaphosa did not take drastic measures against Ms. Tolashe?

“The MECs are appointed by the president. Why is Ramaphosa silent on Ms. Tolashe’s issue? He must explain to us whether he still trusts Ms. Tolashe.”

It said that Ramaphosa himself has been injured in the issue affecting his Phala Phala farm and that is why he is not taking action.

Magwenya was asked about other ministers who seem to be deviating from their work including Ms. Siviwe Gwarube in the Department of Higher Education who commissioned an investigation into the book tender, she said that the investigation should not be waited for.

“Soon measures will be announced regarding matters affecting the tendering process for the procurement of goods in the government. There is a major problem that was highlighted by Judge Raymond Zondo’s Commission as well as Madlanga’s,” said Magwenya.
