Two police officers were arrested along with six other suspects, after a warehouse in Bedfordview was robbed.
According to Capt. Tintswalo Sibeko, police spokesperson, the police’s tactical response unit in collaboration with the provincial traffic police raided the suspects, after information was received about stock that had been stolen from a warehouse.
The suspects fled the robbery scene in three vehicles and were arrested in the Zandspruit area in Honeydew on the West Rand, after the police’s air wing was also deployed to track them down.
Two of the suspects are police officers attached to the Florida police station in Roodepoort.
“The SAPS management in the province strongly condemns the alleged involvement of members in criminal activities, as such behavior undermines the integrity of the organisation,” said Sibeko.
The suspects will soon appear in court on charges of robbery as well as possession of stolen goods. The investigation into the incident continues.
