In a period where the South African agricultural sector is plagued by climate variability, rising input costs and unpredictable market and policy changes, the central message of this year’s Nampo Harvest Day is crystal clear: “resilience is not negotiable”.
When the gates of Nampo Park swing open from 12 to 15 May for the largest agricultural show in the southern hemisphere, the focus will be unwaveringly on the theme “Resilience through Innovation”.
It is more than just a slogan; it is a call to action for every producer and role player in the value chain who refuses to just survive, but strives to grow sustainably.

‘Heartbeat of industry under pressure’
For dr. Dirk Strydom, managing director of Nampo (Pty) Ltd., the Nampo Harvest Day is not simply an exhibition of machinery, but a lifeline of knowledge.

“Nampo Harvest Day remains the most important meeting point for agriculture in South Africa – especially at a time when producers are operating under increasing pressure. Resilience is no longer just about survival, but about the ability to adapt, make better decisions and remain sustainably profitable.
“Nampo brings together the solutions, technology and conversations that producers need to tackle these challenges with confidence.”
In an environment of smaller margins and greater risks, modern farming is characterized by precision and data-driven decision-making. Whether it’s advanced genetics, smart mechanization or research that helps shape the future, Nampo serves as the catalyst by which these abstract ideas are transformed into tangible, profitable solutions.
New face on familiar ground
Nampo builds on its proud foundation this year, but plans to push the boundaries of the experience. Visitors will already be able to feel the growth at the entrance, with brand new buildings and an extension of stands on the north side.
In terms of international exposure, the market is broadening with the arrival of dedicated Chinese and Italian pavilions bringing world-class perspectives to Bothaville.

The technical demonstrations remain the core, with the excitement around new vehicle launches and tractors set to shake up the market. Furthermore, the spraying drone demonstrations promise to set the new standard for precision farming. This year there will even be an ambitious attempt to break a world record – something that promises to really get visitors buzzing.
For those who want to relax, there is excellent news: a brand new relaxation area with refreshments, together with the Six Gun Grill Country Hall, offers the necessary space to catch your breath and network.
Logistics has also been refined; the availability of jet fuel in Nampo Park and an extensive fleet of shuttle vans will ensure that movement across the vast terrain runs as seamlessly as possible.
Inspiration and culture on stage
The Santam Agricultural Women’s Programme, in collaboration with Red Rosesundoubtedly remains one of the most popular events. The Red Roses-tent will be the host again this year for an inspiring power tour with artists and speakers who capture the imagination. The list includes: Hannon, Willem Botha, Amanda Strydom, Carmién Tea, Reandi Grey, Lizz Meiring, Susan Coetzer, John Rock Prophet and Hannes van Wyk.
History buffs are invited to the Graan SA Museum which is sponsored by Santam and is located next to the chairman’s reception area. It is not just an exhibition, but a powerful story of how South African grain production has grown from humble beginnings to the international arena.

Livestock arena: Creative response to challenges
Although the recent outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease limit the physical presence of cloven-hoofed animals at Nampo this year, the TAU Animal Feeds Livestock arena does not allow its status as a dynamic attraction to remain in the slaughter. Animals such as horses, dogs and poultry, which are not part of the disease risk group, will continue to fill the arena under strict biosecurity measures.
However, the real innovation lies in the creative approach of breeder societies. They now focus on the science and the genetic performance behind the animal, rather than just the looks. With the addition of a strongman competition and many more surprises, the arena promises to increase the intellectual and entertainment value for visitors.

Logistical ingenuity for smarter visiting
The Nampo 2026 app is your best friend on the field. With access to more than 900 exhibitors and advanced navigation features, visitors can plan their day with military precision. OFM’s live broadcasts will ensure that no one is left in the dark about traffic or route updates.
In terms of accessibility, there is good news: the flow of traffic has been re-examined, and the likelihood is excellent that ground access routes will once again ease the pressure on the main roads. From the Maize Hop shuttle service to the Century Avionics airport lounge for air travelers, every detail has been thought out to make access to Nampo Park as effortless as possible.

Culinary experience
No Nampo experience is complete without the Syngenta Boerekos Farm Kitchen where top quality dishes are served in a real farm atmosphere. This is linked to the traditional food stalls run by local non-profit organisations, ensuring that every bite contributes to the support of rural communities.
