The Ladybrand police arrested two security guards, aged 23 and 28 respectively, in connection with the alleged murder of a 52-year-old man and the assault of his 46-year-old brother.

The victims were accused of stealing maize from a farm.

Ao. Mmako Mophiring says the police were called to a farm in the Ladybrand district on Friday around 13:30 where a man was allegedly murdered.

“Upon their arrival, the police found the body of Rakoro David Moloi (52) with an open wound on the right side of his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“His younger brother was found by a river near a landfill. He was badly injured and was rushed to a hospital for medical treatment.”

According to family members, the two brothers were last seen on February 25 in the Lusaka section of Manyatseng, near Ladybrand.

According to Mophiring, they were apparently accused of stealing maize from the farm when they were assaulted.

The two suspects have already been arrested and are expected to appear in the Ladybrand Magistrate’s Court on Monday. They are facing charges of murder and assault with intent to seriously injure.
